Season overview
Sweet spot: April–May and September–October
Temperatures 12–22 °C, long days, everything open. May is arguably Berlin's best month — parks green, terraces busy, no peak-summer crowds. September and October bring crisp air, the Festival of Lights and the city in golden hues.
Summer (June–August): festivals, warmth and peak prices
Berlin's legendary outdoor scene comes alive: Karneval der Kulturen (Whit weekend), Christopher Street Day / Pride, Lollapalooza and countless open-air events. Warm at 22–28 °C but expect peak prices and busy museums.
Winter (December–February): cold, cultural and affordable
Temperatures drop to -5 to 3 °C. Christmas markets along the Gendarmenmarkt are among Germany's finest. Museums are blissfully uncrowded. The Berlinale film festival (February) draws the international crowd.
Key events
Berlinale (February). Karneval der Kulturen (May/June). Christopher Street Day / Pride (July). Lollapalooza (September). Festival of Lights (October). Christmas markets (December).
