About Berlin Escape

Berlin Escape is an independent travel guide dedicated to Berlin and its surroundings. Our mission is to help visitors discover the real Berlin: not just the famous landmarks, but the neighborhoods, open-air galleries, memorial sites, club culture, and day-trip destinations that make this city one of the most layered and rewarding in Europe.

Our approach

Every guide, itinerary and recommendation on this site is based on thorough research and genuine local knowledge. We cover Berlin honestly — including the tourist traps (overpriced Checkpoint Charlie photo-ops, guided tours that skip the best parts of Kreuzberg or Prenzlauer Berg) and the genuine alternatives, plus the free museum hours and lesser-known Cold War sites most visitors miss. Real prices, real U-Bahn times, nothing invented.

Berlin's story is inseparable from the Wall, the division of the city, and the extraordinary social experiment of reunification. We cover that history with the seriousness it deserves, alongside the equally compelling present: the street art of the East Side Gallery, the techno clubs of Friedrichshain, the food markets of Neukölln, and the easy day trips to Potsdam, the Spreewald, or Dresden.

How we earn revenue

Berlin Escape is a free resource. We earn commissions when you book tours and activities through our affiliate links with GetYourGuide and Viator. This costs you nothing extra; the commission comes from the booking platform, not from you. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details.
