How much does a Berlin trip cost?

Berlin is one of Western Europe's most affordable capitals — typically 20–30% cheaper than Paris or Amsterdam. Budget travelers sharing a hostel dorm and eating Currywurst (€4) and Döner kebabs (€5–7) can manage on around 55–75 € per person per day. Mid-range travelers — a 3-star hotel (€90–130/night), sit-down restaurants and a couple of paid attractions — should budget 120–180 € per person per day.

Key costs to plan for: Museum Island day pass ~€19 (covers 5 museums); Reichstag dome is free but requires online registration; the Berlin Wall Memorial, Holocaust Memorial and most memorials are free. A single AB-zone public transport ticket is €3.80; a day ticket is €9.90; the Berlin WelcomeCard (48h) is ~€25 and covers zones A+B. Berlin is very cash-friendly — many bars, clubs and markets are cash only.

Day trips add cost: Potsdam on the zone-C WelcomeCard is nearly free for transport; Sachsenhausen memorial is free entry (train ~€10 return); Spreewald by Brandenburg-Berlin Ticket (€29 for the whole group on regional trains); Dresden by ICE ~€25–40 Sparpreis each way.
